Fire Breaks Out on INS Brahmaputra

A fire broke out on INS Brahmaputra, an Indian Navy multi-role frigate, on Sunday evening while the ship was undergoing a refit. The incident occurred at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai, India.

Details of the Fire

The fire started in one of the compartments of the ship and quickly spread to other parts of the vessel. The Indian Navy immediately deployed fire-fighting teams to control the blaze. No injuries have been reported so far.

The INS Brahmaputra, a Type 41 Leopard-class frigate, was commissioned into the Indian Navy in 1958. The ship has a displacement of 5300 tonnes, a length of 125 meters, and a width of 144 meters. It has a top speed of over 27 knots.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The Indian Navy has ordered a full inquiry into the incident.
