South Africa thrash Bangladesh by 149 runs in their 23rd match of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023
Mumbai, October 24: South Africa continued their winning streak in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 with a comprehensive 149-run victory over Bangladesh in their 23rd match of the tournament played here at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday.
Riding on a solid century by opener Quinton de Kock (105) and a half-century by skipper Temba Bavuma (70), South Africa posted a mammoth 382/5 in their allotted 50 overs. In reply, Bangladesh were bundled out for 233 in 46.1 overs, handing South Africa their sixth win of the tournament.
For Bangladesh, Shakib Al Hasan top-scored with 48 runs while Liton Das contributed 34 runs. However, their efforts were not enough to chase down the big target set by South Africa.
With this win, South Africa have consolidated their position at the top of the points table, while Bangladesh's hopes of making it to the semi-finals have taken a major blow.
